Tzendze Rustic Camping site : camping wild

Tzendze is a great place to camp in the Northern sector of Kruger National Park.  There are no shops, no bungalows and no usual big-stop luxuries. There is no electricity either, so be prepared with your own gas, and make other plans for charging cellphones, computers, etc (no generators are permitted either). Set in mostly Mopani woodlands, but with numerous huge jackalberry trees and others in the camp, the green lushness of the camp is so inviting and relaxing.  The camp is well set out and the focus is on silence and enjoying nature: One is asked to keep noise levels low, and it alsmost seems like that is an automatic reaction in response to the sacred feel of nature all around. There are good ablution facilities (outside showers on each bathroom too... a little fun, there!) and the kitchen facilities are kept spotlessly clean. Hot water is available in both the kitchen and ablutions. There is a gas freezer available to store goods. Roger, the camp manager, is almost legendary on the Sanparks forums: he is friendly, helpful and does a brilliant job of keeping the camp tidy. If you do not enjoy hundreds of tents all about you, and are willing to forego masses of animal sightings (mopani does not carry as much game as the areas south) but enjoy the sounds of owls at night, a good bush fire, and the peace of rustic camping, Tzendze is a great find.
