Bidvest Wanderers Cricket Ground

The Wanders Cricket ground in Illovo, Johannesburg was built in 1956 and again completely overhauled in 1991 with South Africa's re-admission to international cricket. It is now the premier cricket ground in South Africa, which has hosted the 2003 cricket world cup final, the 2009 ICC championship trophy final, the T20 World Cup finals, and whats been touted as "the greatest game ever played" between SA and Austraia in the 438 match. It has a seating capacity of 34,000 and is known as the "bullring" for its intimidating atmosphere. In 2008/9 the main sponsor became Bidvest, which renamed the stadium, and is currently the home to the Highveld Lions cricket team.   A summer 5 day test match is the greatest way to enjoy the stadium, with a cool beer and the warm sunshine... Enjoy with a boerewors roll...
